Pittsfield Open Band

Our jam sessions are free and open to all interested musicians. We play jigs, reels, and waltzes as played for contra dancing. The goals are to have fun, learn more tunes, and develop our contra dance musician skills.

Most of our written repertoire is in:

These books may be available at SHAR Music, Herb David's, or Elderly Music.

Our jams are held once or twice a month, usually on the first and third Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm. Rehearsals are 4pm to 6pm on afternoons before an evening gig. See the AACTMAD events calendar for specific times and dates. We meet at the Pittsfield Grange, 3337 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, ½ mile south of I-94 exit 175, in Ann Arbor (click here for a map and driving directions).

In addition to our regular jams, we play for contra dances and sponsor occasional workshops on contra dance musicianship. We hire an experienced dance musician to lead us when we play for dances.
