AACTMAD-Sponsored ServicesCommunity Partnering. AACTMAD volunteers produce events suitable for all ages within schools, churches, organizations, and other community settings to introduce new people to traditional music and dancing. These events help strengthen the hosting community as well as provide opportunities to raise funds for their group. We also provide residency enrichment programs within schools to introduce young people to traditional music, song, story-telling, and dancing. AACTMAD also coordinates scholarship and mentoring opportunities for young people to learn to play music, sing, call dances, and produce their own events. English Country Dance Bookmobile. A library of resources consisting of CDs, books of dance instructions, and an index and catalog of source materials for English country dance leaders and musicians is available on a lending basis to any AACTMAD member. The library is available at all AACTMAD-sponsored English country dance events. Events Calendar and Mailing Team. The bi-monthly Events Calendar provides authoritative events information for music and dance events in Michigan, Northwest Ohio, and Indiana, and is available in print and online. The Mailing team handles the mailing of AACTMAD's membership mailings and Events Calendars to groups around the state. Facilities works to obtain stable, controllable space for AACTMAD's activities, addressing requirements gathering, partnering opportunities, and fundraising and business plans. Finance makes recommendations about the financial systems, supporting the budgeting process and standard financial reporting. Fundraising In addition to membership dues and admission fees, funds come from the scrip program, matching employer grants, and the generosity of donors. The Fundraising committee explores new funding sources, makes recommendations to the board, and is available to consult with any other committee to raise funds for their programs. Library contains a variety of traditional music and dance materials, including folklore publications, books about folk music, back issues of Sing Out!, CDSS News, recordings, Rapper swords, and more. It's at Gretchen's House Child Development Center 6 on Oak Valley Drive and is open by appointment. Marketing committee works to grow the dance community. It also coordinates the AACTMAD website and a monthly publicity distribution for AACTMAD and other groups. Membership recruits and communicates with the nearly 300 members of AACTMAD. Nominating recruits volunteer candidates for the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee. Board members are elected by the membership in an annual election held in April. Peter Mattis Endowment is an independent committee chartered to make grants supporting folk music projects. Scholarships for music- and dance-related events are available. Mini-grants are available for project organizers willing to work with the board to define and plan events carefully in advance.
