The Pittsfield Open Band

We are musicians who gather regularly to:
1. Play Traditional Music: The band is a place to learn and play traditional music (reels, jigs, waltzes, and related tunes) at dance tempo.
2. Promote Enjoyment and Creativity: The band fosters a relaxed, fun atmosphere where musicians of all skill levels can experiment and create music together.
3. Perform for Dances and Events: POB plays music for contra dances and similar events, a few times a year. Participation in this activity is optional.

Our jams are held once or twice a month, usually on the first and third Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm. Rehearsals are 4pm to 6pm on afternoons before an evening gig. See the calendar for specific times and dates. We meet at the Pittsfield Grange, 3337 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, ½ mile south of I-94 exit 175, in Ann Arbor.

Pittsfield Open Band Values

At Pittsfield Open Band sessions, while masking is optional, courtesy is required. If you do not mask, please respect the space around your fellow musicians who have chosen to mask.

In addition to our regular jams, we play for contra dances and sponsor occasional workshops on contra dance musicianship.
